Just make sure I have your last report card. You will need to let me know that it is your last report card. If you plan on applying for a scholarship at State Finals we will still need a sealed copy of your school transcripts and a signed report card from your school. If you have any questions call me. Horse Fair: There was a lot of cool stuff at the Horse Fair. We received a lot of questions concerning our Association. Hopefully we will have some new members. We were able to fill up 17 pages of our petition to keep the National Finals here in Illinois. We invited people to look across the road to look at the beautiful Rodeo Arena that the State built for the National Finals and are now telling us we can’t use it. We have a lot of support but we don not know yet if it will happen. As soon as a decision is made we will get it posted.

This is an Illinois point rodeo. The entries are to be postmarked by March 1, 2006. The first performance will be Friday night @ 7:00 pm (don't forget, IN is on a different time zone). Remember to get health papers and current coggins for your horse(s). HOTEL RESERVATIONS- MID-WINTER MEETING I hope everyone that wanted a room for Mid-Winter meeting was able to get one. Apparently there was some kind of mix up with the hotel's computer, and when some of you called in, the rooms were all booked. We tried to fix this problem as best and quickly as we could. Unfortunately, I was not able to book the meeting at the Northfield Inn (where we have been the past two years), and this was the only place I could find in Springfield/Central Illinois that was big enough to accommodate our needs. Most places had meeting rooms, but they wanted $80-$90 for their sleeping rooms. Hopefully next year we can be back at the Northfield Inn. ILLINOIS HORSE FAIR Everyone should try to attend the Illinois Horse Fair, Springfield, IL, March 3-5, 2006. Linda Munson will be there with the IHSRA information booth and will need some volunteers to help. This is a great way to get kids interested in high school rodeo, plus it's a lot of FUN!! Contact Linda @ (815) 786-2646 and let her know if you will be able to help at the booth. IHSRA MID-WINTER MEETING The Mid-Winter meeting can only be a success if you participate and become active in your Illinois High School Rodeo Association. Your thoughts and concerns are valuable. Please make plans to attend this very important set of meetings. If you have any questions, please call Laurie Staley (309) 264-9042 or John Muffick (217) 824-9397. As stated in the IHSRA by-laws, members must have their dues paid ten days prior to any meeting (open for them to vote) in order to exercise their privilege to vote. The following adult officers will be elected at the Mid-Winter meeting: President, Vice President, State Secretary, Treasurer (1 year term), Publicity Director, Director at Large (2 vacancies) and National Director. If you are interested in being an officer, please contact Laurie Staley (309) 264-9042. Page 2 MESSAGE FROM THE STUDENT OFFICERS We want to remind everyone the importance of attending the Mid-winter meeting. A lot of decisions will be made at this meeting and the only way it can be successful is if we all work together. The IHSRA Cowboy Prom will be held Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Signature Inn - Springfield. The dance will be from 7:30 pm to11:00 pm, with King/Queen coronation at 9:00. This year's theme is "Paradise City". If anyone has decorations or would like to help decorate, please contact one of the student officers (Kayla Dorethy, Robert Munson, Melissa Rawlings, or Kayla Berger).
